Claire has provided psychological services in a variety of clinical and organisational settings for the past 18 years. She is an experienced and empathic therapist with a particular interest in early development and the treatment of depression, anxiety, trauma, and relationship issues. An approved counsellor with Victims Services, Claire has extensive experience assisting individuals who have experienced significant trauma, including sexual assault, domestic violence and physical and/or emotional abuse. She also has an interest in working with the LGBTI community in Sydney, having spent time at ACON as an individual and group therapist.
Claire’s philosophy is to provide each of her clients with a comprehensive and holistic service by building a caring and supportive relationship and empowering individual growth. She aims to address underlying problems through increased understanding and clarity of the issues at hand, seeking to not only to address the presenting problems, but also to provide her clients with skills, coping strategies and preventative techniques so they feel more equipped to deal with life’s challenges. She draws on a range of therapeutic modalities to assist her clients, including psychodynamic psychotherapy, mindfulness based therapies, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), hypnotherapy and eye movement desensitising and reprocessing (EMDR).
Claire offers cognitive and academic assessments for individual presenting with learning difficulties and/or behavioural issues. She is also an authorized supervisor and facilitator with the Psychology Board of Australia and supervises interns who are completing their psychologist registration. She provides individual and group supervision to Provisional Psychologists, as well as training in psychometric testing.
